Strawberry & Chocolate-Chip Cake

My colleagues can be quite difficult to please: one doesn't like coconut, the other one hates cinnamon, the third can't stand cardamon etc..
But they are nice so to make them happy I wanted to make something sweet.
And everyone loves strawberries and chocolate.

STRAWBERRY & CHOCOLATE-CHIP CAKE

Base:

125g butter (room temperature)
75 g (1 dl) sugar
2 egg yolks
100 ml milk

Meringue:

2 egg whites
150 g (2dl) sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar

Filling & Topping:

100 g strawberry jam
300 ml cream
3 teaspoon sugar
100 g chocolate chips
200 g fresh strawberries

Preheat oven to 200 C. Prepare a medium oven tin covering it with a baking paper and spreading some butter on it.
Whisk in a bowl butter and sugar, then add egg yolks and milk.
Pour the dough on the oven tin and spread all over (it remans quite thin).
In another bowl whisk together egg whites adding sugar (also vanilla) little by little until it's hard. Start adding the meringue on top of the other dough spreading very carefully. Bake in the middle of the oven for 15-20 minutes.

Whisk cream in a bowl to a hard foam, add sugar and chocolate chips.
Cut the base into two even squares and two half squares so that you can make three layers. Place the first whole piece in a serving plate and spread a thin layer of strawberry jam on it. Add a lot of cream-chocolate mix on top, then add the other base (the two halves) and repeat the same thing. Place on the third base and spread the rest of the mix all over the cake. Decorate with strawberries, put for a while in the fridge to cool and serve.
